The Treasury Division’s Workplace of Overseas Property Management (OFAC) has sanctioned twelve Kaspersky Lab executives for working within the expertise sector of Russia.
These sanctions got here after the Biden administration introduced yesterday the ban of gross sales and software program updates for Kaspersky antivirus software program within the USA, which began in July, over potential cybersecurity dangers to nationwide safety.
As well as, the Division of Commerce designated AO Kaspersky Lab and OOO Kaspersky Group (Russia), and Kaspersky Labs Restricted (United Kingdom) to the Entity Listing, stopping any US enterprise from conducting enterprise with them.
“All the individuals below were designated pursuant to E.O. 14024 for operating in the technology sector of the Russian Federation economy,” reads the OFAC announcement.
Immediately, OFAC introduced sanctions on twelve Kaspersky Lab staff in management positions. The twelve sanctioned Kaspersky staff and their positions are:

Whereas many of those members report on to the CEO, Eugene Kaspersky, the US authorities says they haven’t sanctioned Kaspersky Lab, its guardian or subsidiary firms, or its CEO.
The Treasury Division says that the workers are sanctioned pursuant to Govt Order 14024, which states that individuals decided to work within the expertise sector of the Russian Federation can fall below sanctions.
“to operate or have operated in the technology sector or the defense and related materiel sector of the Russian Federation economy, or any other sector of the Russian Federation economy as may be determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State,” reads the Govt Order.
These sanctioned have had their belongings within the US frozen and may now not entry them till the sanctions are lifted.
